Valerian are mostly herbaceous to evergreen perennials and are native to Europe and from North to South America. They have entire to finely dissected foliage and mostly branching racemes with terminal flower heads. The garden valerian (Valeriana officinalis) is a fully winterhardy perennial and widely used for its' medical properties and ornamental rose to white flower umbels. Valeriana officinalis is easily grown in any humus rich, well drained soil in a sunny spot in the garden. Sow seeds flat in any well drained, humus-rich soil and cover seeds slightly with soil only. Keep pots outside in the garden during winter in a protected and sunny spot. 20 seeds per package. |
