150 (200)cm, Cranberry Hibiscus is only know from cultivation and it probably is an old stabilized hybrid between violet flowering Hibiscus radiatus as one parent and a yellow flowering second species, and not a hybrid of both yellow flowering Hibiscus asper and Hibiscus surattensis, what is commonly believed. Hibiscus acetosella is a woody perennial sub shrub with showy, dark maroon-red foliage and violet flowers throughout summer. Cooked young leaves are eaten as a vegetable in several parts of the world. For any rich, well drained substrate in a sunny spot throughout the year. In winter keep drier at a minimum of some 15°C.
