2m, Colombian Mountain Papaya is a quite cold resistant dwarf species from the cool Andean regions of Columbia, growing in peaty soil at up to 2.400m. Will endure cold periods at some 10°C. Has large maple-like leaves and a slightly caudiciform (i.e. succulent) stem. Has a very attractive appearance and large yellowish white, slightly fragrant flowers almost all year long. The yellow, white-fleshed fruits are used to make delicious compote. A good container plant for a warm or cool wintergarden. Requires a minimum of some 12°C in a sunny spot in winter. Keep partially shaded in summer.
