10 (20)m, Ginkgo Tree is native of China and probably extinct in its habitat now. It has ornamental, fan shaped leaves with bilobed veins, hence its name. It is a dioecious species, i.e. male and female flowers are born on separate plants. The female trees make plum shaped, pale yellow-orange fruits (malodorous). It is a very robust and durable solitary tree, male plants have a narrow pyramidal habit, whereas female trees make a broad, lax crown. Easily grown in any rich, well drained soil in a sunny spot.
