40 (70)cm, False Sea Onion is native of South Africa, where in traditional medicine the zap from squeezed bulbs is used for the same purposes as Aloe vera. The bulb grows above ground and may gain up to 15cm in diameter. Makes very long, broad, strap-like, slightly succulent leaves and a tall spike of numerous white flowers with a central green stripe. Easily cultivated in any rich, well drained soil in a sunny spot and a minimum of some 7°C in winter with watering reduced to a minimum. V-VII.
