100 (200)cm, Needle Palm is an extremely winter hardy, fast growing palm from open spots in semi-moist woods in south-eastern USA (Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Mississippi, and South Carolina). It makes a low, almost trunk less, freely offsetting shrub with numerous elegant fan shaped, glossy green leaves, which are nicely slivery blue beneath. It prefers a humus rich, well drained, slightly moist soil in full sun to partial shade. In winter stop watering and give some protective mulch-layer around the base of younger plants.
