3 (5)m, Red Elderberry is a woody deciduous shrub from mountainous regions in Central Europe with broadly feathered leaves, greenish-white flowers and most ornamental red berries (not edible) in dense terminal culsters. Easily cultivated in any rich, well drained soil in a sunny to partially shaded spot. Seeds from a population in the southern Vosges range (East France). IV-VI.
