Sempervivum tectorum ssp. tectorum
7 (12)cm ø, flattish, dense rosettes (rarely 15) cm in diameter of dark green to apple green, strongly succulent, shiny, smooth leaves with usually reddish tips and quite large, but few marginal cilia. Produces dense mats as it offsets freely. Flowering stem up to 30cm in height with up to 200 dull pink to purplish red flowers. An extremely variable species, native across most C Europe (Pyrenees, C France, Apennines, and N Alps) as well as the Balkans. For any well drained soil in full sun. VII-VIII.
