Typhonium giganteum |
Typhonium giganteum |
50cm, rarely seen Chinese species from woods in Yunnan province. Makes quite large yellowish green, very ornamental arrowhead shaped leaves and a narrow blackish spathe and spadix. For any rich, well drained soil in a sunny to partially shaded spot. It is as semi-hardy as Sauromatum venosum, provided that corms are planted rather deep in a well draining soil and that a good winter protection is given (i.e. a thick mulch layer), this species will grow outside in the garden in USDA Climate Zone 7. VI-VII. Fotos from this species are available from the International Aroid Society website: Typhonium giganteum. More Details » |
