20cm, semi-succulent, short-lived perennial with dark green, slightly glossy leaves arranged in a basal rosette and a central spike of creamy yellow pendulous flower-tubes. Seeds from populations on the Canary Islands (Gran Canaria, pine forest of Atenara at some 1.050m) and Levada Nova (southern Madeira, 450m), probably best grown under frostfree conditions in a sunny to partially shaded spot or under cold glass.
