Centaurothamus (Arabian Shrub Cornflower) is a very rare, perennial, semi woody, evergreen, low shrub with utmost beautiful corn-flower like, large rose blooms. It is a very long lived container plant and may be planted out as well in a cool, yet frostfree wintergarden or greenhouse. Ideal for any humus rich, very well drained substrate in a sunny spot. Keep plants frostfree in winter at a minimum of some 15°C and reduced watering. Sow seeds flat in any humus rich, well drained, yet slightly moist soil at some 15°C to 20°C. Keep seedlings very sunny, especially in winter in order to receive a compact growth. 10 seeds per package. |
Centaurothamnus maximus (Arabian Shrub Cornflower)70 (120)cm, Arabian Shrub Cornflower belongs to a monoyptic genus and is a very rare, local endemic perennial shrub from Saudi Arabia and Yemen, where it grows in vertical rock walls. It has ornamental greyish-green leaves, white on the underside, and large pale violet flower heads. For any rich, very well drained substrate in a partially shaded (summer) to very sunny (winter) spot. Keep drier in winter at a minimum of some 15°C. Despite constant hand pollination plants set very few viable seeds only, thus the available quantity is always very limited. I-XI. |
