Proboscidea parviflora var. hohokamiana (Desert Devil's-Claw)

30cm, Desert Devil's-Claw is an annual variety from rocky and sandy soils in desert areas in the southwest of the United States and northern Mexico. It is similar to the species with rose to purple, rarely white flowers on fleshy trailing stems, followed by longer fruits containing woody ornamental capsules with a recurved pointed tip and larger, white to grey seeds. Sow in mid spring in pots and keep pots outside in a protected and sunny spot. Transplant in early summer to the final spot. For any rich, well drained soil in full sun. VII-IX.
