Helichrysum (Strawflower), Rhodanthe (Everlasting), Schoenia & Xerochrysum

Australian Everlastings and Australian Strawflowers belong to the related genera Helichyrsum, Rhodanthe, Schoenia and Xerochrysum within the sunflower or daisy family (Asteraceae). All are fast growing, mostly annual plants from seasonally arid areas in Australia. The majority of species develop paper-like flowers which excellently serve in dry flower arrangements. All are easily grown in any rich, well drained soil in a sunny spot. Seeds are best sown flat in the final spot in any rich, very well draining soil after the last freezing nights in spring. If seeds are sown too late (e.g. in mid summer), plants will usually not grow well as they need cooler nights to develop vigorously and to flower in profusion in summer. 20 seeds per package. |
