70 (120)cm, Orange Mauritius Mandrinette Hibiscus is an orange flowering form which is known from a single population only in western Mauritius. Apart from the flower color it differs in several aspects from the nominal red form, having a more erect habit and bearing small leathery, more densely pubescent, mid green leaves. It will probably be separated as a subspecies in the closer future. Easily grown in any rich, well drained substrate in full sun throughout the year and reduced watering in winter at a minimum of 20°C. Seeds from all Hibiscus species in section Lilibiscus (e.g Hibiscus arnottianus, Hibiscus cooperi, Hibiscus fragilis, Hibiscus genevii, Hibiscus mabberleyi, Hibiscus waimeae, etc.) germinate unevenly over a period of several months. Keep pots in a warm spot and the soil slightly moist until germination will occur. A first time offer, and seeds are worldwide exlusively available from us. III-X. |
