Lupinus excubitus (Grape Soda Lupine)

100 (150)cm, Grape Soda Lupine is a perennial shrub from southwestern USA to northwestern Mexico. Lupinus excubitus makes several branches with greyish-green, finely pubescent leaves and showy terminal spikes with rich indigo-blue flowers with a sweet, grape soda like scent. This species is not reliably winterhardy in colder areas and best grown in pots in full sun throughout the year and under frostfree conditions at a winter minimum of some 5°C with reduced and careful watering.
