3 (10)m, Florida Fishpoison Tree is a deciduous tree from Florida, USA to Central America and the Caribbean region. It has alternate and pinnately compound leaves and axillary clusters of showy white flowers tinged with pink and green, before the new leaves emerge in spring. After flowering large winged seedpods are formed. Extracts from the bark, roots, twigs and leaves have been used by indigenous tribes to sedate fish for an easier catch. Easily cultivated in any rich, well drained soil in a sunny spot. During dormancy in winter keep plants slightly drier at a minimum of some 15°C. V-VI. |
