Oxalis squamata (Ojos de Agua)

8 (12)cm, Ojos de Agua is a herbaceous perennial with a short and dense basal leaf rosette and numerous showy bright lilac pink flowers. Native of dryish rocky spots in subalpine regions in Chile. Sufficiently winter hardy if planted in any rich, very well drained soil in a protected spot in the garden with shelter from winter wetness. Excellent in the rock garden. Seeds from a wild collection in VII Region, Reserva Nacional Radal Siete Tazas at some 2300m. Sow flat on any rich, well drained soil and keep sowings at some 20°C in a sunny spot. USDA Climate Zone 7/8. VI-VII.
