50 (100)cm, Christmas Box is an evergreen, slowly growing woody shrub from China with leathery, glossy, dark green, broad leaves and small, strongly fragrant flowers followed by ornamental, bright scarlet berries. In habit similar to butcher's broom (Ruscus aculeatus), yet it belongs to a completely different family (Berberidaceae). For any humus rich, well drained soil in a sunny to partially shaded spot.
