Geranium palmatum

40 (70)cm, broad, basal to sometimes short-stemmed, biannual to short-lived perennial rosette of strongly dissected, dark green leaves, tinged purplish red in full sun. Geranium palmatum is native of rich soils in sunny spots in central and northern Madeira, and not on the Canary islands as many nurseries state. It produces large, bright rose flowers in lax inflorescence. For any humus rich, well drained soil in partial shade to full sun. V-VIII.
