40 (80)cm, Sweet Thai Basil, locally called Bai Horapa in Thailand, is a strongly aromatic cultivar of the sweet basil (Ocimum basilicum). It has purplish stems with midgreen leaves, which show a very pleasant, strong anise-licorice taste and which are used fresh for soups and salads in various Thai dishes. Easily cultivated in any rich, well drained soil in a sunny spot. This cutlivar is basically a perennial slightly woody cultivar, however it is usually cultivated as a fast growing annual. VI-VIII. |
