Hippobroma longiflora (White Star of Bethlehem)

25 (35)cm, White Star of Bethlehem (syn. Laurentia longiflora, syn. Isotoma longiflora) is a perennial species in a monotypic genus with this single species only. It makes showy long-tubed white flower stars throughout summer above dark green leaves with serrated margins. It is endemic of humus rich, slightly moist soils in open spots in woods on Jamaica. Easily grown in any humus rich, well drained soil in a partially shaded (summer) to sunny (winter) spot. In winter keep plants slightly drier at a minimum of some 15°C. V-VIII.
