Smilax aspera var. balearica (Balearic Carrion Flower)

100 (300)cm, Balearic Carrion Flower is a variety endemic to the Balearic islands with very narrow, sometimes absent, leathery, dark green perennial foliage with small pale green to white spots on prickly stems and few-flowered racemes followed by ornamental red berries. For any rich, well drained soil in a sunny spot throughout the year. Keep plants drier in winter at a minimum of some 5°C. II-IV.
