7 (15)m, Chinese Honeylocust is a rarely cultivated tree with pinnate leaves and showy, long, brownish-grey seed capsules in late summer and autumn. As in all species the stem and branches are covered with long, unusual spines. For any rich, well drained soil in a protected and sunny spot. V-VI.
