200 (400)cm, Fire Vine or Spanish Flag (syn. Ipomoea lobata) is an utmost showy annual from Brazil with elongated racemes of small pale yellowish-white flowers surrounded by white bracts turning to yellow and orange-red with age. For any rich, well drained soil in a sunny spot. Sow under glass in mid spring at some 20°C, transplant seedlings to the final spot in the garden after the last freezing nights from end of spring to mid summer. VII-IX.
