4 (7)m, perennial species native of South America (Ecuador and Peru) with broadly lobed leaves and white flowers with a whitish-purple crown followed by egg-sized, non-edible green fruits turning to bright yellow with maturity. For any rich, well drained soil in a sunny spot. Keep drier in winter in a sunny spot at a minimum of some 15°C. VI-VIII.
