Silphium terebinthinaceum (Prairie Dock)

170 (220)cm, Prairie Dock or prairie rosinweed is a very showy herbaceous perennial from semi-moist meadows and prairies throughout estern-central USA. It makes a dense basal rosette of large, slightly glossy leaves and very tall, losely branching flower stalks with bright yellow daisy-like flowers. Easily grown in any humus rich, slightly moist, yet well drained soil in a preferably sunny spot. VII-VIII.
