Parmentiera cereifera (Candle Tree)

3 (6)m, Candle Trees is an endemic plant from Atlantic coastal areas in Panama, where it has become a threatened species due to ongoing habitat loss. It is an evergreen small tree with white flowers directly born on the stem. Flowers are followed by long, candle-like fruits with an edible juicy and aromatic, pleasantly tasting pulp at maturity, when they turn bright yellow. For any rich, well drained substrate in a sunny spot throughout the year and with reduced watering in winter at a minimum of some 15°C. VI-IX.
