Iceflowers or Iceplants belong to a small South African genus with usually annual plants with succulent leaves. Several species have been naturalized in arid areas of Mediterranean climates throughout the world. All Mesembryanthemum make numerous flowers throughout summer. Easily grown in any very well drained soil in full sun throughout the year. In winter keep plants drier at a minimum of some 15°C. Alternatively grow as annulas. Sow small seeds on top of any well drained soil at a minimum of some 20°C throughout the year. Do not cover seeds and always water from beneath. Place pots in full sun. 50 seeds per package. |

It makes low, multibranching mats with succulent leaves with a redish tinge in full sun and densely covered with crystal-like, liquid filled papillae and numerous small white flowers throughout summer. Its' leaves are edible, yet these do not have a significantly pleasant taste. Easily grown in any very well drained soil in full sun throughout the year.
