Viola calcarata (Long Keeled Violet)

10cm, Long Keeled Violet is a rarely cultivated perennial, slightly clump forming species from rock crevices and subalpine meadows in the Western Alps. It makes quite large, vivid brilliant mauve blue to lilac blue flowers. For any humus rich, well drained soil in a sunny spot. Excellent in the rock garden. V-VI.
