Protea cynaroides (King Protea)

150 (250)cm, King Protea is a multi-stemmed upright shrub from Cederberg to Port Elizabeth. It makes very distinctive leaves and very large flower heads with white, red and pink bracts. One of the showiest and most easily cultivated Protea species. For any humus-rich, very well drained soil in full sun throughout the year. In winter reduce watering and keep plants always well aerated and at a minimum of some 10°C. II-VIII.
