Penstemon alamosensis (Los Alamos Beardtongue)

60 (100)cm, Los Alamos Beardtongue makes showy stalks with bright fire-red to orange-red flowers above a basal rosette of rather large, bluish-green leaves. It is native of open spots in woods, cliffs and mountain slopes in New Mexico and Texas, USA. For any rich, well drained soil in a sunny spot. An excellent plant for the rock garden. Seeds from cultivated plants. IV-VI.
