Helleborus foetidus (Palm-Leafed Hellebore)

30 (50)cm, Palm-Leafed Hellebore or Stinking Hellebore is a semivergreen perennial with deeply cut, serrated leaves and numerous nodding, pale green flowers with reddish-brown tips in a well branching inflorescence. This species is native of rich soils in of open spots in mountain woods and meadows in south-western Europe. It is easily cultivated in any humus rich, well drained, slightly moist soil. Plant in partial shade or full sun and do not disturb plants once transplanted. Seeds from an original collection in the Tramuntana mountain range at some 950m on Mallorca, Spain. IV-V.
