Scrophularia hirta (Madeira Figwort)

50 (100)cm, Madeira Figwort is a perennial with glabrous, slightly glossy foliage and loosely branching racemes with small, dark maroon flowers. Native of open spots in the laurel forest of central Madeira (Portugal). For any rich, well drained soil in a sunny spot throughout the year. In winter keep plants slightly drier at a minimum of some 10°C. VI-VII.
