7 (20)m Oriental Plataine is a showy deciduous species with acer-like foliage and long-stalked, pendulous flower balls. It makes a more or less pyramidal crown with age. Native in humus rich, wet soils alongside water streams in the eastern Mediterranean. For any humus rich, well drained, preferably slightly moist soil in a sunny spot. IV-V.
