30 (45)cm, Long-Head Poppy is an annual to biannual Eurasian species with showy bright orange to orange-scarlet flowers above filigrane leaves. It is similar to Papaver rhoeas (Field Poppy) and differs from the latter by bluish-green leaves and absent basal black spots on the petals. Easily cultivated in an rich, well drained, preferably slight rocky soil in full sun. Sow flat directly after the last freezing nights in mid spring. Do not cover seeds with soil. Under appropriate conditions this species will readily self-sow. V-VII. |
