100 (150)cm, Large-fruited Blackthorn is a deciduous, strongly branching, tall woody shrub with ornamental, quite large (up to 2cm in diameter), bluish fruits which are edible when fully ripe in late summer to early autumn. It is an European subspecies from possibly hybrid origin. Easily grown in any rich, well drained soil in a sunny to partially shaded spot. IV-V.
