Glycyrrhiza glabra (Licorice)

100cm, Licorice makes annual shoots from a perennial, stoloniferous rootstock and has pinnate leaves and terminal inflorescences with pale mauve flowers. Licorice sirup is extracted from the dried roots and is an essential ingredient in Ayurveda medicine in India. For any rich, well drained substrate in a sunny spot. In winter keep the dormant rootstock slightly drier at a minimum of some 5°C. VI-VIII.
