Aechmea bracteata

100 (140)cm, a large Aechmea species from Costa Rica, Mexico and Venezuela. It makes a shows rosettes of broad, greyish-green leaves with spiny margins and an arching inflorescence with small pale blue flowers surrounds by bright red bracts, followed by black fruits at maturity. Easily grown in pots in any rich, well drained substrate at a minimum of some 20°C throughout the year. II-III.
