50 (70)cm, Wittmann's Peony (syn. Paeonia wittmanniana) is a rarely cultivated, beautiful subspecies from the northwestern Caucasus to the southern Transcaucasian region. It has broad, dark green leaflets. It is similar to closely related Paeonia daurica ssp. mlokosewitschii and differs from the latter by more pale yellow to white, rarely pale rose flower cups above glaucous green leaves. Easily cultivated in any rich, well drained soil in a sunny to partially shaded spot. Offered seeds are from unhybridized, true to type specimens with very pale yellow flowers! V-VI. |
