Helianthus argophyllus (Silver Leaf Sunflower)

100 (150)cm, Silver Leaf Sunflower is an annual species with showy silvery woolly leaves and several bright rich yellow blooms per plant. It is native of coastal areas in Texas, USA. The true species is rarely seen in cultivation as most plants labelled as such are hybrids with other species, especially the common sunflower, Helianthus annuus. Either sow under frostfree glass in spring and transplant seedlings after the last freezing nights in early summer or sow directly into the ground in early summer. For any rich, well drained soil in full sun. VI-X.
