Calochortus kennedyi (Desert Mariposa Lily)

15 (25)cm, Desert Mariposa Lily is one of the showiest and extremly rarely cultivated Calochortus species with brilliant orange flower cups. It is naive of rocky and open spots in the North Transverse Ranges, he White and Inyo Mountains, and the Mojave Desert, USA. For any rich, very well drained substrate in a sunny and protected spot. In cooler and moister regions preferably grow under frostfree conditions in pots. During dormancy in summer keep bulbs completely dry. In winter keep at a minimum of some 5°C with careful watering. V-VI.
