Allium atropurpureum

100 (120)cm, an most ornamental species which is native from central Turkey to eastern Iran growing in limestone rocks at some 200m to 500m. It bears tall flower stalks and flattened umbels in an utmost showy, deepest violet with yellow anthers, which make perfect cut flowers. Easily grown in any well drained soil in a sunny spot. Fully winter hardy in Central Europe. V-VI.
