Malva subovata (Mediterranean Shrub Mallow)

150 (200)cm, Mediterranean Shrub Mallow (syn. Lavatera maritima) is a perennial, woody shrub with acer like, grayish-green foliage and numerous bright pink flowers with lilac veins. A Mediterranean species from coastal areas which has become rather rare due to the destruction of its habitat for tourist activities and by grazing of savaged goats. Easily cultivated in any rich, very well drained soil in a sunny spot throughout the year. In winter keep plants drier at a minimum of some 5°C. V-VIII.
