It makes trilobed leaves and small showy dark red flowers followed by winged seedpods, which are edible when harvested unripe and the cooked. These have an asparagus-like taste. Easily cultivated in any rich, well drained soil in a sunny spot. Excellent groundcoverer in the rock garden. VI-VIII. |
